A 70-YEAR-OLD woman lost her life after she was hit by a bus at a pedestrian crossing in Edinburgh.
Emergency services rushed to the horror collision involving a Lothian Bus at around 9.30am in Davidson’s Mains.
One onlooker claims a female was dragged under the bus.
Firefighters worked to free her but police later confirmed she was pronounced dead at the scene and an investigation was underway.
Inspector Stuart Mitchell of Drylaw Police Station said: "Our thoughts are with the woman's family at this very difficult time and we continue to offer them support.
"Our enquiries into this collision are ongoing and we'd ask anyone who can help to come forward.
"Anyone who may have witnessed this collision and has not yet spoken to officers is urged to get in touch."
Those with information can contact Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 1270 of 14 May.
The onlooker who asked not to be named said “I was walking down the road to my work when I saw a female fall under the bus.
“At first I couldn’t believe what I was seeing, it was totally awful.
“People came to help and then the fire brigade turned up.
“The police just told us to go and wait in the street until they could speak to us.
“It was just such a horrible thing to witness."
