RELATIVES of two women and a baby killed in a horror car smash say they're comforted by a photo which shows a 'pathway to heaven' above the crash site.

The eerie image seems to show a beam of light shining down from the skies immediately above the scene of the fatal accident.

Hannah Simmons, 23, her nine month old daughter A'lannah, and friend Lauren Buteau, 28, from Gainesville, Georgia, were killed in the April 25 accident.

Authorities said the three were returning from a doctor’s appointment when Simmons lost control of her car and veered into the path of the truck.

One of those caught in the resulting traffic jam was driver Anisa Gannon who was heading to work.

When Ms Noble looked at the photo, she said she instantly saw the 'pathway to heaven'.

The photograph shows a ray of light beaming down on the crash scene. Two lighter patches appear to shine out of the wreckage.

The families of the victims say the picture has given them hope.

While some say the beam is just glare of a windshield, Ms Noble thinks differently.

She said: "I don't believe in coincidences, especially the two "lights" inside that bigger light.

"It brought the families peace, whether it's a glare or not. It's indescribable, basically, and it does look like them leaving."

Ms Noble tracked down the victim Hannah Simmons' mother, Judy, who said the photo was a gift.

She said: "That picture was taken for a reason — to give me sanity. Hannah was also my best friend, and she's looking down from heaven now."

Paige Wilson, Hannah Simmons' cousin, added: "No doubt it’s some kind of sign."

"I'm at peace with this because I know they're in a better place than we are now," relative Jodie Carter said.

Jodie said she's finding strength through faith after her niece, Buteau, and her cousins died.

She said the photo appears to show a streak of light coming from the sky.

"It took my breath away. Chills covered my body. And then a peace came over me," she said.

"I see God taking them up to heaven. Their spirits, their orbs are up there. No other explanation."
