TWO men who went missing on a speedboat off the cost of south west Scotland have been found dead.
The bodies were found in the water this evening by the coastguard, who pulled them ashore by lifeboat at Wigtownshire, Dumfries and Galloway.
The coastguard put them into the care of police.
A statement from Nith Inshore Rescue, which was on the search, said: "It’s with great sadness to report that the two missing persons in the boat that was overdue from Port Logan have been recovered from the water by search teams.
"Thoughts are with the families of the two men."
The news comes after the to Port Logan in Dumfries and Galloway.
Family members reported the speedboat as missing around 6.15pm yesterday after the two men, aged 46 and 35, didn’t return to the holiday village.
Two helicopters and lifeboats searched the water overnight based on its last known movements – but there was been no trace of the boat or its passengers.
Their three-wheeled trailer was found on the beach after the pair went on a trip in the 16ft black speedboat.
Police joined the large-scale search with the Maritime and Coastguard Agency and the RNLI.
Inspector Stephen Bell, Dumfries and Galloway police division, said: “Following a joint search operation by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, the RNLI and Police Scotland, we can confirm that the bodies of two men have been recovered from the west coast of the Irish Sea.
“The men are yet to be formally identified, but are believed to be the that of the 46 year-old man and 35 year-old man, who police understand launched their speed boat from Port Logan at around 9am on Saturday 6 May 2017.
"Enquiries are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident."
