PIERS Morgan was left hoarse after shouting over and over at a senior Labour politician as he tried to get him to say if Jeremy Corbyn would use nuclear weapons or not.
Jonathan Ashworth felt the full force of the Good Morning Britain host as he struggled to come up with an answer during a bizarre interview.
The Shadow Health Secretary was interrupted as he tried to call the issue a “hypothetical” by a thundering Mr Morgan.
He screamed: “Someone’s just fired a nuclear weapon at us Mr Ashworth!
“Someone has literally just fired a nuclear weapon at this country, maiming and killing many many tens of thousands of people.
“Would you if you were in Government fire back? We have to know the answer!”
The politician tried to say his party “would do what’s necessary”, but was shouted again by the angry ITV host, who asked: “Would you fire back?”
Mr Ashworth replied: “Of course we will never compromise on safety.
Piers cut in again: “What you’ll never do is give me straight answer. One more time Mr Ashworth, if we had a nuclear weapon fired at this country, would you fire back? Its not difficult.”
The key member of Mr Corbyn’s senior team said: “Don’t be ridiculous of course we would do what we have to do in those circumstances.”
Mr Morgan asked if that was confrontation, to which he replied: “Of course we would
The host, finally calming down, added: “Great, that wasn’t so hard was it.”
It was the second consecutive morning where the combative presenter gave a Labour politician a grilling on nuclear weapons, after Diane Abbott was left floundering yesterday.
The Shadow Home Secretary was screamed at by the GMB host, but she claimed there were "much more pressing threats" - and repeatedly dodged the question.
Mr Morgan yelled: "It’s yes or no! It’s one of the single most important questions any government in the world could have.
"If you have to use it - would you use it? Why can nobody on the Labour side say yes or no to that simple question?"
Ms Abbott said there were “much more pressing threats” such as terrorism.
The ITV host screamed back: “What could be more pressing than someone about to nuke us into extinction?”
