Labour Party plans to spend a MILLION pounds on Facebook adverts in the election campaign
LABOUR is to step up its spending on Facebook advertising in the run up to the June snap election.
In 2015 the Tories had success using the social media site - and this year Jeremy Corbyn's party are set to splash the cash on it.
Records showed that the Conservatives poured £1.2million into adverts for the social network in 2015's poll - but Labour spent less than £16,500.
The site allows the parties to target specific voters in certain areas with personalised messages.
This is particularly helpful in swing seats - and Facebook is used by millions of people in the UK.

But they will have to do a LOT of work in order to make up for the party's poor national polling.
A Sun on Sunday poll today showed Mr Corbyn is heading for a wipeout as he lags behind by 19 points.

The grassroots support for Mr Corbyn online could boost his reach.
Over 637,000 people like the Labour Party on Facebook, compared to 570,000 who like the Conservatives.
Just 360,000 like Theresa May's page, but 856,000 like Mr Corbyn's.
The source also confirmed that the strategy was helpful for getting the vote out for Labour's Sadiq Khan in last year's mayoral vote.
