Theresa May brands Jeremy Corbyn ‘weak, unstable and nonsensical’ in astonishing attack on Labour leader as she gets set for first election interview

THERESA MAY has stepped up the campaign against Jeremy Corbyn today with a damning attack on the Labour leader – accusing him of being weak, unstable and nonsensical.

The Prime Minister insisted that the Opposition’s plans simple “do not add up”.

In an interview with , Mrs May said: “I am strong and stable, Corbyn is weak and unstable. It’s about who’s going to be Prime Minister.”

She hit out at the Labour leader’s “conflicting” Brexit plans and the lack of confidence MPs have in their boss.

Mrs May insisted: “They say conflicting things in the same sentence, let alone an hour or a day or a week afterwards. Jeremy Corbyn can’t even persuade 172 of his MPs to have confidence in him.”

And she went on to call him “nonsensical” and that he was “floundering”.

She told The Andrew Marr Show this morning that Labour’s plans for Britain “simply do not add up” and would lead to higher taxes.

In the wide-ranging interview with the Mail she also:

• Explained that being a practising Christian and going to church is an “important” part of her life – where she gets “spiritual connection and uplift”
• Praised Margaret Thatcher as “unique” but admitted that she “barely met her”
• Admits her favourite film is Casablanca and go-to recipe is marinated rack of lamb with coriander and honey

Mrs May said that she wasn’t interested in using the terms “hard Brexit” and “soft Brexit”.

“The decision has been taken,” she said, in an indication that she accepts the result in full. “Let’s just get on with it.”

But she admits it is important to reach out to the 48 per cent who voted to stay in the EU, saying “What matter is that we come together and change this country for the future.”

The Prime Minister told the Mail she WOULD push the nuclear button – in contrast to the Labour leader who has repeatedly dodged the question.

But she avoided saying whether she would walk away from the EU if she needed to – and just said she hoped to achieve a “great deal”.
