And he will declare that Labour wants to remain a partner to the bloc with the same "benefits" of being in the single market.

Tories claimed the stance would severely weaken Brexit Britain's negotiating hand in Brussels divorce talks as they know we'd never leave if they offer a bad divorce deal.

And they claimed it would mean Britain has to accept free movement - meaning unlimited EU immigration - and being subject to rulings by the hated European Court of Justice.

Sir Keir will insist Labour still respects the result of the referendum and "put the national interest first". But he will also unilaterally guarantee all rights of EU citizens living in Britain regardless of how Brussels decides to treat British ex pats on the Continent.

In a release ahead of a speech by Mr Starmer - Labour also failed to make a single mention of immigration in its "new approach to Brexit".

Asked what he believed Labour's Brexit position to be Lord Mandelson replied: "Search me."

Mr Starmer - touted as a future party leader - said: "A Labour Government will set out a new Brexit strategy.

"We will scrap the Government's Brexit White Paper and replace it with fresh negotiating priorities that reflect Labour values."

Labour had mooted a possible second Referendum in a bid to steal votes back from the resurgent Lib Dems - who are the only pro-EU party heading into the Election.

It has never been as clear about its stance on the single market - or ripping up the No Deal threat. The position was still confusing Labour peers.

Lib Dem chief Tim Farron is estimated to have nabbed 400,000 voters from Labour with his promise of a vote on the Brexit deal.

Dominic Raab MP, member of the Exiting the European Union Select Committee, said: “Only Theresa May and the Conservatives can provide the strong and stable leadership the United Kingdom needs to see us through Brexit and beyond.

“But there is a real risk of Jeremy Corbyn – with the support of the SNP and Lib Dems – becoming Prime Minister and being in charge of the Brexit negotiations.

"He is a weak leader of a divided party who couldn’t get the right deal for the United Kingdom.
“We have a clear plan for the Brexit negotiations, and every vote for Theresa May will strengthen her hand in those negotiations to get a good deal for the UK."
