Spanish memes mock Britain comparing hero soldiers to Gibraltar’s monkeys and showing the Queen covered in bruises

AS the fight for the future of Gibraltar rages on the Spanish have taken to social media to post memes mocking us Brits and claiming the 'Rock' is really theirs.

The isolated part of Britain has not been out of the headlines since news emerged the EU had handed the Spanish a VETO over its future under Brexit.

After PM Theresa May triggered the Article 50 notice to quit the union, sulking EU chief Donald Tusk revealed the overseas territory would not be included in any exit deal.

The news sparked celebrations across neighbouring Spain which has been looking to take over Gibraltar for decades.

Former Tory leader Lord Howard even hinted we could go to war over the sovereignty of the British territory.
