Reporter Adam Baidawi spent a week visiting the rogue state and his pictures reveal a fascinating snapshot of everyday existence living under despot Kim Jong-un.

As the rogue regime edges nearer and nearer to a catastrophic war with Donald Trump's military, Adam's images shows how life goes on in the communist country.

"I worked for three years, on and off, to make this story happen," he revealed.

"It's not terribly difficult for most people to access a tourist visa. But professional journalists and photographers are blanket banned."

The photojournalist booked his visit though an external tour company but admits he didn't reveal his job.

And he was still shadowed day and night.

"You have two 'tour guides' with you at all times," he told the . "It's not possible to walk outside the hotel alone."

He spent most of his trip in the nation's capital, Pyongyang, which he describes as an "immaculate joyless Disneyland " far removed from the poverty he saw elsewhere.
