Man sexually assaulted by male stranger near bandstand at city centre park as attacker remains on the loose

Cops have launched an urgent appeal to track him down

A MAN has been sexually assaulted by a stranger at a park bandstand as the attacker remains on the loose.

Cops were called at around 00.45am today after a man was attacked by another man in Devonport Park in Plymouth.

Cops have asked witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward

The terrifying incident took place after the victim entered a vehicle and was driven to the the scene.

After the attack the suspect left the park and remains at large.

There has been a security guard stationed at the park today while cops continue their investigation.

Devon and Cornwall Police released a statement today: "Police are investigating following a report of a sexual assault in Plymouth overnight.

"Officers received a call at around 00.45am on Monday 10 February stating that a man had been sexually assaulted by another man at Devonport Park.

"It was reported that the victim entered a vehicle and was driven to the park. The victim and suspect, who are not known to each other, then exited the vehicle together before the victim was attacked at the park band stand.

"The suspect then left the scene.

"A scene guard remains in place in the park today while investigation work takes place. The victim is being supported by specially trained officers."

Cops have urged anyone who may have been a witness or might have footage to come forward.

The statement continued: "Investigating officers are keen to hear from any witnesses in the area at the time, or anybody who may have relevant dash-cam or CCTV footage.

"They are particularly keen to speak to a man who dropped the victim home following the attack.
