VLADIMIR Putin's apocalyptic Satan-2 nuclear missile has been branded an "absolute failure" - despite the Russian despot bragging it is "unstoppable".
Putin has sacked the boss of Russian space agency Roscosmos after the killer weapon blew up on a launchpad before even taking off during a missile test.
Russia has long boasted the 208-ton intercontinental hypersonic missile - capable of carrying nuclear warheads - is “unstoppable” by the West.
The 15,880mph missile system is said to be the size of a 14-storey tower block.
But Putin is now said to be frustrated over the production failures of the so-called apocalyptic weapon.
A source told Telegram channel VChK-OGPU with links to the Russian security service that Putin fired Yury Borisov, 68, because of a lack of progress with Satan-2.
They said: "Putin’s anger was primarily triggered by the absolute failure in the production and deployment of the Satan-2 missile system.
“There is no proper electronic component base for mass production and the full range of tests hasn’t been completed.
“Issues with the liquid-fuelled ‘Sarmat’ operation have not been resolved."
While the development of the missile system development has strictly been kept under the sheets, reports have leaked out of multiple test failures.
Alarming satellite images taken in September showed a massive crater at the Satan nuke launch site after a "major blast during a failed test".
It was reportedly the fourth failure of a Satan-2 test, of which there is only one known success, which Putin oversaw in April 2022.
Analyst MeNMyR said: “The RS-28 Satan-2 test was a complete failure.
“The missile detonated in the silo leaving a massive crater and destroying the test site."
Before the test, Borisov reportedly told Putin that the giant missile was in combat ready.
Putin last year even boasted in a national address that Satan-2 was “already in service with the troops”.
He told the Russians: “We will soon demonstrate them in combat duty mode at their deployment bases.”
The dictator even threatened to launch the missile against the West in a deranged nuclear sabre rattle.
But that has not happened.
Russian reports say that the development of Satan-2 has been hit by Western sanctions that have prevented its makers from obtaining key parts.
The same VChK-OGPU channel reported last year in April: “The Krasnoyarsk Machine-Building Plant is experiencing a serious shortage of electronic components….for production of the strategic missiles.
“The electronics of the new RS 28 [Satan-2] missile system are largely of foreign origin and, due to sanctions, [they] are experiencing a serious shortage.
“Now all efforts are being made to somehow correct the situation with the supply of sanctioned electronics.”
Putin’s own state news agency TASS reported that the system still requires a significant number of tests before being deployed.
Kyiv military expert Oleksandr Kovalenko, of the Information Resistance Group, said previously that Satan-2 “is unreliable and dangerous”.
He told RBC-Ukraine: “It's a very problematic missile.
“The Russians couldn't even manage test launches.”
DONALD Trump's top team has hatched a carrot and stick plan to force the warring leaders to the discussion table and bring peace to the region when he enters office in January.
The clever scheme uses America’s military support for Ukraine as a double-edged sword to encourage Zelensky and threaten panicky Putin.
If the Russian war-mongering kept snatching land and refused to join peace talks, Trump would make him suffer by pouring more cash into Ukraine’s military.
Zelensky would be rewarded for following Trump’s lead with support for Ukraine to protect itself under the new terms of any deal.
Under Trump’s plan, Zelensky would have to give up the land Russia has already taken in the eastern regions of Ukraine and drop his dream of immediately joining Nato.
The Ukrainian leader has repeatedly ruled out land sacrifices for most of the war but recently indicated he might consider the option to halt the bloodshed.
If Zelensky did not cooperate, Trump would slash the US support that the Ukrainian military relies on.
There are signs both Zelensky and Putin may fall in line with Trump’s plan which could prove to be a silver bullet.
Insiders close to Trump told The Sun that Putin is “scared to death” of the president-elect and will be ready to talk when he takes power.
But bullish Vlad is already teeing up hard-line terms for any deal brokered by Trump, sources say.
Zelensky indicated he may be open to negotiations, but still has Ukraine joining Nato as part of his “victory plan”.
There is consensus among Trump’s advisors that any peace deal would rule out Ukraine joining Nato in the near future, so this could be a sticking point.
But this is where the US could use the threat of withdrawing military support to leverage Zelensky.
