REFORM UK last night ruled out any deal with the Tories, declaring there are “no circumstances” where they would strike a pact.
Nigel Farage’s insurgent party slapped down the idea after senior Tories, including Jacob Rees-Mogg, suggested teaming up to avoid a wipeout at the next election.
It comes as Reform surged ahead of Labour in a YouGov poll for the first time, hitting 24 per cent, while the Tories trail on 21 per cent.
A Reform spokesman said: “Reform intends to win the next election, repair the damage caused by Johnson, the Tories, and Labour.
“We will then return Britain to greatness.”
And while he did not rule it out entirely, Shadow Cabinet Office Minister Alex Burghart dismissed the idea, telling the BBC: Reform’s stated ambition is to destroy the Conservative Party.
“That’s a pretty difficult first date.
“If somebody says they’re out to destroy you, do you start thinking about marriage.
“Whilst Reform is talking about completely killing us, I don’t think there’s a conversation to be had here.”
Mr Farage last night claimed Reform UK’s membership has now passed 200,000, with the party aiming to overtake Labour next.
As he rallied supporters in Wiltshire, the Clacton MP pointed to a live ticker on the party’s website, saying: “That message will change as I leave this stage.
“It will say that the Labour Party have 309,000 members—and when we overtake them, we will be the biggest political party in this country.
“That’s our goal.
“That’s our aim.
“That’s our target.”
