Tragedy as teenager, 18, found dead at Scots uni halls as police probe ‘unexplained’ death

A TEENAGER has tragically been found dead at a Scottish university student accommodation building.

Emergency crews raced to the student halls after the alarm was raised on Friday afternoon.

Cops said they received reports of a sudden death in the building at around 2.20pm.

The tragic discovery was made at student flats in the Alexander Court area of Bridge of Allan, which is owned by Stirling University.

Police confirmed that an 18-year-old man was found dead at the scene.

The force said his death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing.

However, there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

A spokesperson for Stirling University told The Scottish Sun that they are working with police and supporting students and staff during this difficult time.

They said: "Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with family and friends at this difficult time.

"The university is liaising with the police and ensuring that students and staff are fully supported."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.20pm on Friday, 7 February, 2025, officers were called to the Alexander Court area of Bridge of Allan following the sudden death of an 18-year-old man.

“The death is being treated as unexplained but there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.

"A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”

First-year undergraduate students can stay at the on-campus accommodation at Alexander Court.

It is a short walk to the main university campus and can be found on the north side near to Sheriffmuir Road.

According to the university website, flats in the student halls cost around £121 - £136 per week.

The flats have single rooms with shared shower rooms and housekeeping assistance.
