The NHS must be inoculated against calamitous woke virus if it is to regain its own health
Patients sacrificed on altar of wokery
WES Streeting’s war on the barmy woke brigade ruining our NHS is long overdue.
For years virtue-signalling health chiefs have wasted millions of pounds on crackpot diversity schemes, even advertising roles that promote “anti-whiteness”.
The Health Secretary is absolutely right to tell them to get back to basics and “stop doing daft nonsense”.
With the system in crisis, they must focus 100 per cent of their time and energy on improving clinical outcomes and slashing waiting lists.
Like other public sector bodies, NHS Trusts have been hijacked by politically correct pressure groups peddling their divisive ideological obsessions.
But patients waiting months for hip replacements are not interested in who’s been awarded a “Rainbow Badge” for ditching “gendered” words such as “woman” and “mother”.

If the National Health Service is to live up to its ideals, it must be there for all, not pandering to Leftie lobby groups.
Mr Streeting is already battling the bureaucrats to cut waste and introduce modern technology.
Now he must tackle the tide of “diversity, equality and inclusiveness” posts, some of which pay more than £100,000 a year.
That money urgently needs to be ploughed back into frontline services where it can do some real good.
The NHS must be inoculated against this calamitous woke virus if it is to regain its own health.
Brits in Herm’s way
THE Government’s top lawyer Lord Hermer has made no secret of his devotion to international law — even when it appears to clash with British interests.
But it has now emerged that the Attorney General made a lucrative living from taxpayer-funded legal aid when he was a human rights lawyer, often representing controversial clients.
The Sun on Sunday today reveals that he pocketed a tasty £170,000 in legal aid alone in just four years between 2013 and 2017 before he was recruited by his close friend Sir Keir Starmer.
Not only did he act for former Sinn Fein chief Gerry Adams and jihadi bride Shamima Begum, he has also fought the flagship British firm Dyson on behalf of Nepalese and Bangladeshi workers in a Malaysian factory dispute.
Lord Hermer also championed armed gangster Mark Duggan, whose fatal shooting by a cop in north London sparked riots before the officer was cleared.
Little wonder that even some in Labour are questioning whether he is a help or a hindrance.
