SICKENED British holiday-makers who endured sewage in the pool and maggot-infested salads at a five-star resort are suing TUI for £200,000.
The 23, who paid up to £7,700 for all-inclusive family breaks, say they fell ill from unwashed salads and undercooked meat at a supposedly gourmet restaurant in the complex in Cancun, Mexico.
Food left out for hours was crawling with flies and milk and sushi went unrefrigerated at the Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya Resort & Spa, they allege.
Poolside loos overflowed, leaving guests walking through sewage to get to the water, it is claimed in a High Court class action.
Visitors suffered problems including diarrhoea, vomiting, salmonella and parasitic infections between July and October 2022.
The group accuses TUI of failing in its legal responsibility to ensure basic hygiene at the resort.

Katie Richards, 36 and husband Ashley, 27, lost almost a stone after falling ill.
Katie said: “We spent our honeymoon in the Riviera Maya area and had an amazing time so we were excited to be coming back.
"But this time around was very different and we spent half of our holiday ill.
“There were flies, cats, birds and even raccoons hanging around, and we found a maggot in the salad one evening.

“The whole experience was nothing compared to what a five-star hotel should be, and we were ill for a long time after coming home.
“While there’s nothing we can do to change what happened, we deserve some answers.”
TUI has not admitted liability.
It said: “As this is a legal issue we are unable to comment.”
