Brits warned ‘check on neighbours’ as 5-day cold weather alert issued with SNOW to hit – what does it mean for you?
BRITS have been warned to "check on their neighbours" as a five-day cold weather alert is issued with SNOW expected to hit.
The Met Office has cautioned there will be a "greater risk to life" as temperatures drop over the weekend.
Four yellow cold health alerts have been issued across the North and South of England from 9am on February 7 until February 11.
The national weather agency says there is risk of "wintry hazards like snow and ice" and "easterly winds, low temperatures".
This will impact health and social care services, as more people turn to them for assistance, cautions the forecaster.
Yorkshire and The Humber, areas in the North East and West, as well parts of the South East have all been issued with yellow alerts.

In Wales, where snow is forecast, temperatures will drop to an eye-watering 1C.
As freezing temperatures hit, the UK Health Security Agency has urged Brits to "check on their neighbours" as vulnerable people face an increasing risk of death.
Those aged over 65 or who have heart and circulation conditions are said to be particularly at risk due to the cold weather.
It's long-range forecast adds that snow and light rain are expected to fall, before drier conditions are established later on in the week.

Met Office Chief Meteorologist, Paul Gundersen, said: “While some areas will see showers or some patchy rain on Friday and through the weekend,
"There will be the potential for some sleet or snow as temperatures drop, mostly over higher ground in central and southern areas. The cold will be accentuated at times by brisk easterly winds.
“There will be variable, and at times large amounts of cloud over the coming days with the clearest and sunniest weather across the northwest of the UK.
"There will also be icy patches and overnight frost in places. Whilst, for most, the weather is not expected to be disruptive, keep an eye on the Met Office website for any National Severe Weather Warnings.”
It comes after parts of the UK were washed out with up to 60mm of rainfall earlier this week after the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for rain.
That band of rain moved east across England and Wales - with heavy showers seen further north.
