THIS is the horrifying moment a man is stabbed in broad daylight on a busy high street in front of terrified shoppers.

Shocking footage, taken by the passenger of a passing car, shows a group of people surrounding a man on Kingston Road in Portsmouth, Hampshire on Wednesday afternoon.

The video, originally shared on Snapchat, is captioned: “Half 12 on a Wednesday and see geezers getting stabbed up mid day.

“Love Portsmouth.”

As the car approaches, a group of people can be seen tussling with one another while a bike lays on the pavement.

Dressed in dark clothing, two individuals throw punches and kicks at one another while two others can be seen in the background.

After a few seconds, one of the people begins rushing over to grab another man who appeared to be held by a woman dressed in a grey puffer jacket and blue jeans.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary confirmed the horror incident took place on Wednesday afternoon in Portsmouth.

Its statement read: “We were called at 12.32pm today (Wednesday 5 February) to a report of a serious assault on Kingston Road, near to Kingston Crescent, in Portsmouth.

“A 53-year-old man was seriously assaulted by another man and officers are still establishing what happened.

“He has been taken to hospital for treatment to an injury to his stomach.

“His condition is described as serious and potentially life threatening at this time.”

Cops arrested a total of five people as part of their investigation, including three women and two men.

A 39-year-old man from Portsmouth was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of a knife, blade, or sharp pointed article in a public place.

An 18-year-old woman from Portsmouth was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and conspiracy to murder.

Police also arrested a 23-year-old man from Portsmouth was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of cannabis.

A 50-year-old woman from Portsmouth was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder, while a 19-year-old woman from Portsmouth was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

All five remain in custody at this time.

‘NO WIDER RISK TO THE PUBLIC’

District Commander, Superintendent Paul Markham said: “You will see officers in the area while we progress our enquiries.

“Based on the information that we currently know we do not believe there is any wider risk to the public.

“Anyone with any concerns can speak to one of our uniformed officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team who will be patrolling regularly”.

Officers had been seen raiding properties in the Somerstown area of Portsmouth with a cordon placed by a block of flats and police guarding the area.

An officer was also seen outside Lalys Pharmacy in Kingston Road where rubbish was left strewn across the floor inside the shop where there also appears to be blood, reports .
