The tot's father Etienne Ancelet had turned up at the Jelly Beings Early Learning Centre in Sydney, Australia, to collect his daughter - only to be told he had never dropped her off, according to 7News.

He ran outside to discover his baby was still strapped in her seat in the car.

Paramedics scrambled to reach Olivia, but she tragically died at the scene.

Roy Gomes, who lives near the kids centre, said he found out about the tragic incident after hearing Olivia's father's harrowing cries.

Gomes said: "It all happened so quick; he was screaming, the poor guy, he kept screaming ‘I killed my daughter’.

"I didn’t sleep much last night - I can see the little baby’s face all night.

"She was just floppy, no life.

Cops are still working to understand the timeline of events leading up to Olivia being found in the car.

Superintendent Christine McDonald said inquiries currently suggest the tot was left inside the car for an "extended period of time," with temperatures at a scorching 30C on Tuesday.
