Woman, 20, and teenage girl ‘sexually assaulted inside Sainsbury’s’ forcing shopper to intervene – as man, 38, arrested
A WOMAN and teenage girl were reportedly sexually assaulted at a Sainsbury's supermarket.
The pair were shopping at the store in Chertsey on January 23 when the incident took place between 1pm and 2pm.
A man who witnessed the scene stepped in and told the suspect to leave the store, and leave the 20-year-old and 15-year-old alone.
A 38-year-old man from Chertsey has been arrested and remains in police custody.
However, police are appealing for more witnesses to come forward.
A Surrey Police spokesperson said: "This occurred between 1pm and 2pm on Thursday, 23 January, in Sainsbury's on Guildford Road, when the suspect sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl and a 20-year-old woman while they were shopping."
They added: "We are now interested in speaking to any individuals who may have witnessed the incident, particularly the male member of the public who helped the victims.
