Doomsday Clock moves CLOSER to midnight in chilling warning that world is on brink of apocalypse amid WW3 & AI threats
THE DOOMSDAY clock has been moved forward to 89 seconds to midnight in a terrifying warning of how close the world is nearing an apocalypse.
Threats of World War Three, nuclear fallout, 'Disease X', and AI have all added to the terrifying threats against mankind.
Scientists have moved the clock the closest it has ever been to the feared midnight hour.
The update came at 3pm UK time or 10am local time in Washington DC from The Bulletin of Atomic Scientists which organises the clock.
This clock symbolises how close the world has come to a deadly and horrific nuclear apocalypse.
Scientists use midnight as an indicator that Armageddon will break out.

Therefore the closer the hands are to midnight, the closer mankind is to a devastating nuclear war.
The Bulletin's chair of science and security, Daniel Holz, warned that "advances in an array of disruptive technologies" was partially to blame for the terrifying change.
These warning areas included nuclear weapons, biotechnology, artificial intelligence, and space.
Holz said: "We set the clock closer to midnight because we do not see sufficient positive progress on the global challenges we face."
He added: "Any move towards midnight should be taken as an indication of extreme danger and an unmistakable warning.
"Every second of delay in reversing course increases the probability of global distaster."
The clock was set at just 90 seconds to midnight in both 2024 and 2023.
GLOBAL TENSIONS
In 2024 the scientists who created the clock explained that the threats posed by evil Vladimir Putin and his war with Ukraine continue, and this has not changed in 2025.
Holz added that continued unrest in the Middle East had added fuel to the dangerous fire.
Iran increased it's threats against Israel as fears into the nation ramping up up its nuclear production grew.
The nation has been aggressively ramping up its nuclear programme by building new facilities across the country,
Since the 2024 announcement, certain potentially world-shattering fears have worsened.
Putin's war of terror in Ukraine has intensified as the evil dictator began using a new arsenal of weapons.
Mad Vlad launched Oreshnik hypersonic ballistic missiles at his neighbour in November 2024.
The Pentagon warned that although the weapon was fired with conventional warheads - Moscow could still modify the weapon to carry a nuclear payload.
A spokesperson revealed that Russia's move—using a never-before-fired missile—was viewed as "experimental" in Washington.
BIO FEARS
The world has also been gripped by more global health fears after people were hospitalised with what scientists feared was a 'Disease X'.
Two people in Europe fell ill after being infected with a mystery pathogen in December 2024.
These unnamed people had visited the Democratic Republic of Congo showed up at different hospitals in Italy with signs of the little-known disease.

This followed the deadly Coronavirus pandemic which cause mass destruction to communities and countries healthcare systems.
It wasn't until later that natural risks like climate change were considered as well.
Despite it's concerning meaning - it is meant to serve as a warning and is not a real clock.
Even if it strikes midnight - all hell will not break loose.
But the scientists who created it and view nuclear war as our biggest threat intend it to be taken seriously as an indicator of how dangerous the world has become.
And in our current climate, amid a backdrop of exploding global conflict, it could well be set closer to midnight in 2024.
