"So, I’d rather get involved with some of the Arab nations and build housing at a different location where they can maybe live in peace for a change."
Jordan is already home to more than two million registered Palestinian refugees.
The US commander-in-chief added that he was going to discuss this idea with Egypt's president Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Sunday.
Sisi has previously warned that taking more Gazans could cause issues for the country's peace agreement with Israel.
Trump did not reveal more details about what these radical plans could look like but he added the change could be "temporary" or "could be long-term".

Trump's plans would be a stark change from the US's previous policy which promoted a two-state solution between Israel and Palestine.
Trump's surprise words came after thousands of Palestinians were not allowed to return to northern Gaza on Sunday.
Israel enforced this after Hamas broke a ceasefire agreement to release female civilian hostages before IDF soldiers in captivity, on Saturday's prisoner swap.
Four female Israeli soldiers were released in exchange for 200 Palestinian prisoners held in Israel.
Karina Ariev, 20, Daniela Gilboa, 20, Naama Levy, 20, and Liri Elbag, 19, were handed over to the Red Cross and taken back to safety with Israeli forces.
