The country pile was used by family members but has been unoccupied since August 2023.

So Adrian applied to convert Great Wilbraham Hall Farmhouse into a holiday bolthole.

Permission was granted and Adrian, 53, is expected to refurbish the two- storey thatched mansion, which is set in 900 acres.

Greater Cambridge Planning said: “As the property has been vacant for some time and there are signs of deterioration in condition, we feel that a refurbishment programme is necessary to bring the property back into a viable use.”

Adrian is now able to create six bedrooms, sleeping up to 13 people.

The refurb will include redecoration, a refitted kitchen, conversion of a first floor bedroom into a bathroom and restoring and re-painting sash windows.

The planning and access statement stated: “The applicant seeks full planning permission for the change of use of Great Wilbraham Hall Farmhouse from residential use to short-term holiday let.

“Listed building consent is sought for minor internal alteration to the first floor layout as described below.
