They were last seen at 2am in Aberdeen as they headed towards a river in subzero temperatures.

The concerning new clip shows the sisters at the same spot almost twelve hours earlier.

They were caught on camera carrying rucksacks and visiting the River Dee in daylight.

It’s thought they didn’t speak to anyone before they headed home and then didn’t leave again until they headed back to the riverside.

Cops are keen to hear from anyone who may have had some interaction with them and may be able to shed some light on their behaviour during the afternoon visit.

Superintendent David Howieson said: "We have carried out a significant trawl of public and private CCTV footage as we try to establish the sisters’ movements.

"Several hours of footage are being examined by a dedicated team of officers and we have so far established that Eliza and Henrietta were at the footpath next to the River Dee at 2.50pm on Monday, 6 January, 2025.

"Although the sisters didn't engage with anyone else at this time, the area would have been busy and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen them.

“After returning home, there is nothing to indicate that Eliza or Henrietta left their flat again until shortly before they were last seen at the River Dee.”

Detectives also announced that Henrietta texted their landlady as they made their late-night journey.

She sent a message at 2.12am saying the sisters, both 32, wouldn’t be returning to their city centre pad.

After that the phone either disconnected or was destroyed but hasn’t been used since.

Their landlady was so worried about the time of text that she visited the apartment hours later.

When she spotted some of the sisters’ belongings, including a mobile phone, she raised the alarm.

Cops launched a massive search operation and began quizzing their work colleagues and friends and relatives.

The case is not being treated as suspicious and there is no suggestion anything sinister has happened to the girls.

Superintendent David Howieson said: “Extensive enquiries are ongoing and I would again stress there is nothing to suggest any suspicious circumstances or criminality.

“We have had a positive response from the public to our appeals and I would like to thank everyone who has already come forward.

"I would again urge anyone with any information which could help find Eliza and Henrietta to get in touch.

"We remain in regular contact with Eliza and Henrietta’s family in Hungary and we will continue to provide them with support at this very difficult time.

“Searches will continue in the coming days and our officers will continue to do everything they can to find Eliza and Henrietta.”

The sisters headed towards the River Dee in the early hours of Tueday the 7th of January

CCTV footage shows them tackling a dodgy, unlit footpath.

Since then their bank accounts and mobile phones haven’t been used and they haven’t contacted friends or family.

Officers have a “strong theory” that they have gone into the water on one of the coldest nights of the year.

We told how audio picked up around the time they were last seen could be a woman screaming.

Crews have been trawling the river for more than a week now but have found no trace of the girls or their personal belongings.

But the girls left no evidence they intended to harm themselves and efforts are ongoing to establish whether they could have made it away from the river without being caught on CCTV again.

Friends and relatives said the two were “happy and settled” in Scotland and gave no sign anything was wrong.

Their family back in Hungary, including third triplet Edit, have been anxiously waiting for updates.

Brother Jozsef said the girls never told them they were planning to quit their flat, which came as a surprise.

Twins Frances and Johanne Harper, both 55, visited the river to lay flowers as a tribute to Eliza and Henrietta.

Johanne reckoned that if they were troubled they may have kept it secret. She said: Johanne said: “If anything was happening they probably wouldn’t have said anything to anyone.

“Even if they were close to their family they would probably not have said anything.

“We deal with things ourselves and they are probably the same.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0735 of Tuesday, 7 January, 2025.
