Major update on missing twin sisters as cops reveal key theory on disappearance & landlord speaks out
A KEY theory in the disappearance of missing twin sisters has been revealed by cops - as the search enters a second week.
Eliza and Henrietta Huszti, 32, were spotted on CCTV walking along Market Street in Aberdeen at 2.12am on Tuesday, January 7.
They crossed Victoria Bridge and then turned right on to a footpath next to the River Dee, heading in the direction of Aberdeen Boat Club.
Police have now revealed one of their theories, saying that the two women may have entered the River Dee and that they were notified of their disappearance by the sisters' landlord.
Superintendent David Howieson said: “We have obtained further footage of their movements through the city centre.”
He added that the two sisters' trail runs cold where the pair enter the footpath by the river.

The landlord of the missing sisters had expressed concern for their welfare after many of their "personal possessions" were discovered inside the property.
Searches for the sisters have been extensive and have included the use of the police helicopters as well as both the dog and marine specialist units.
The superintendent also revealed that the two sisters had arrived in the UK six years ago and had been working in Aberdeen since then.
Police carried out an early morning operation today at the site where the pair went missing, one week on from their disappearance.

Officers spoke to pedestrians and motorists in the area to try and shed more light on the sisters’ movements.
Superintendent David Howieson said: “We remain extremely concerned for Eliza and Henrietta as our searches enter a second week.
“Considerable efforts are being made to search the river and the surrounding area.
“We have spoken to a number of people in the course of our inquiries, including overnight, a week on from when they were last seen."
It has also emerged that there were claims of screams heard by the river at the time the two sisters vanished.
These noises that were heard in Aberdeen in the early hours of January 7 could have been alarming cries, it is understood.
While the sounds raised concerns, detectives do not presently think anyone is involved in their disappearance and are not treating it as suspicious.
One resident said: “Everyone is talking about this.
"It was pretty scary stuff.
“A woman screaming out in the darkness is going to raise some red flags
“But it’s not entirely clear what the noises were.
"No one has been able to establish whether or not they are definitely connected to the girls.”
Eliza and Henrietta, originally from Hungary, are thought to have left their home in the city centre just to head to the River Dee.
No one has been able to find any explanation as to why they went to the unlit spot in the Torry area as temperatures plunged below zero.
The steep unpaved path was covered in ice at that time and hard to tackle even in daylight.
Police Scotland has confirmed it is focusing its search efforts on the River Dee, with their search area going as far as from the Port of Aberdeen's South Harbour in the east to Duthie Park in the west.
Cops are also working with authorities in Hungary - the twins' country of origin - to support their relatives back home.
The twins' family released a statement through Police Scotland, saying: "This has been a very worrying and upsetting time for our family.
"We are really worried about Eliza and Henrietta and all we want is for them to be found.
DESPERATE SEARCH CONTINUES
"If you think you might have any information which could help the police with finding Eliza and Henrietta then please pass this on as quickly as you can.
"We appreciate all the support our family has been given over the past few days and we would like our privacy to be respected at this time."
In a statement on Saturday, Chief Inspector Darren Bruce, of Police Scotland urged local businesses in the South Esplanade and Menzies Road area to check CCTV footage.
He said: "Extensive inquiries are ongoing to trace Eliza and Henrietta and searches are being carried out in and around the area where they were last seen.
"Searches are ongoing here and we would urge businesses in and around the South Esplanade and Menzies Road area to please review their CCTV footage for early morning on January 7 and contact us if it holds anything that may be relevant to our investigation."
The force added that there were numerous "commercial and industrial units in the area" which were also being searched.
Numerous family members have spoken of their concern for the pair, who don't usually go out at night.
József told the they had a 40-minute conversation and everything seemed normal.
In a statement, the brother confirmed: "Dear friends and relatives! Yes, unfortunately, the news is true.
"That's why I ask everyone to respect each other. No one should spread any fake news.
"I am asking everybody that now the family is not in a position to give separate information to everyone.
"Thank you all for being with us at this difficult time. Saying thank you, the Huszti Family."
Eliza and Henrietta's triplet Edit Huszti said she also spoke to her sisters on New Year's Eve and they appeared happy.
She added it was out of character for them to be out on the streets in the early hours as they preferred to stay in at night.
