Police probe claims screams were heard moments after last sighting of missing sisters in Aberdeen
COPS are probing claims that screams were heard by a river at the time two sisters vanished there, it emerged.
It's understood noises were heard in Aberdeen in the early hours of Tuesday that could have been alarming cries.
The sounds raised concerns and officers are trying to work out whether there is a link to missing women Eliza and Henrietta Huszti, both 32.
But detectives don’t think anyone is involved in their disappearance and are not treating it as suspicious.
One resident said: “Everyone is talking about this. It was pretty scary stuff.
“A woman screaming out in the darkness is going to raise some red flags.
“But it’s not entirely clear what the noises were. No one has been able to establish whether or not they are definitely connected to the girls.”
Eliza and Henrietta, originally from Hungary, are thought to have left their home in the city centre just to head to the River Dee.
No one has been able to find any explanation as to why they went to the unlit spot in the Torry area as temperatures plunged below zero.
The steep unpaved path was covered in ice at that time and hard to tackle even in daylight.

It’s understood the pair were captured on CCTV heading towards the water before they vanished from view. They never re-appeared on the camera footage.
Specialist police teams launched a massive land, sea and air search to try and find the pair.
A resident said: “There’s really no other route they could have taken to get out of there.
SISTERS SEEMED 'FINE'
BY SCOTTISH SUN REPORTERS
THE family of two missing sisters revealed that the pair seemed "fine" just days before their mystery disappearance.
Eliza and Henrietta Huszti, 32, vanished from Aberdeen city centre three days ago.
Their brother Jozsef told that the girls spoke to their mother on Saturday for 40 minutes.
They added that nothing appeared to be out of the ordinary.
The sisters are said to be part of a close-knit family who do not understand what might have happened.
Eliza and Henrietta are from a set of triplets their sister Edit Huszti who said she spoke to her siblings over a video call on New Year's Eve where they appeared to be cheerful.

“Was one of them screaming out for help because they’d fallen in? And did her sister go to help and then get into trouble herself.
“We might never know what happened to them. It is such a tragedy.”
Their relatives, including third triplet Edit and brother, Jozsef, issued a plea for information through cops.
They said: “This has been a very worrying and upsetting time for our family.
“We are really worried about Eliza and Henrietta and all we want is for them to be found.
“If you think you might have any information which could help the police with finding Eliza and Henrietta then please pass this on as quickly as you can.
“We appreciate all the support our family has been given over the past few days.”
It’s understood the alarm was raised by their landlord who got worried when they didn’t come home and then didn’t show up for work.
Henrietta worked in a coffee shop while Eliza was a cleaner at a hotel.
Officers quizzed their colleagues hours after they were reported missing.
Search crews have been trawling the ice-covered river for days, and returned yesterday.
Dog teams have also been involved, along with helicopter crews.
Chief Inspector Darren Bruce urged anyone who may have seen the sisters on Tuesday morning to contact them
He said: "Eliza and Henrietta's family remain extremely worried about them and we are in regular contact with them as our searches continue.
“We know that people across Aberdeen are also seriously concerned for the two missing sisters and I would again urge anyone with information which could help to get in touch with us.
“The River Dee remains the focus of our searches as there is no evidence of the sisters leaving the immediate area.”
