Cops say they are awaiting a post mortem to establish what breed of dog it was.

One shocked onlooker said: “It was so gruesome. The child’s scalp had been ripped off.

“Someone had to actually pick it up and take it into the ambulance with the child.”

Horrified neighbour Alisha Robinson, 19, told how she saw a woman retrieve the piece of Victoria’s scalp from the ground.

She said: “It was like picking a wig off the floor. It was awful.

“I kept passing towels to them to stop the blood. The girl was going blue and lost consciousness but they brought her back.”
