He had been walking his dog near Caer Salem Baptist Chapel in Llanpumsaint.

Dyfed-Powys Police have since confirmed a 27-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop for a collision and failing to report a collision.

Locals were left shocked by the horror incident, with one writing: “We just can’t believe this has happened.

“Two young children will now be without their dad for Christmas.”

Councillor Bryan Davies added that the village was “so quiet” following Aaron’s “tragic” death.

A spokesperson for the force, before the arrest had been made, said: “Sadly, a man has died as a result of his injuries. Family liaison officers are supporting his family.

“The collision happened near to Caer Salem Baptist Chapel at somewhere between 6.45pm and 7.45pm on Monday, 23 December as the man was walking his dog.

“Officers have established that the vehicle involved was travelling northbound through Llanpumsaint at the time of the collision.

“We are appealing for the driver, and anyone with information about the incident, to come forward – particularly anyone in the area around the relevant times with dashcam footage.”

The police have since thanked everyone who responded to the appeal.

“The family of the man who died in the collision continue to be supported by specially trained officers,” a police spokesman said.

“They have asked for privacy at this difficult time.
