Keir Starmer’s right hand man Morgan McSweeney secretly travels to Florida to meet Donald Trump’s team
SIR Keir Starmer’s right hand man Morgan McSweeney secretly travelled to Florida to meet Donald Trump’s team, The Sun can reveal.
National Security Adviser Jonathan Powell also attended the talks, as No10 attempt to salvage their controversial deal to hand over sovereignty of the Chagos Island.
Trump’s team have been highly critical of giving the overseas territory to Mauritius amid concerns over Chinese influence in the Indian Ocean.
But Starmer faces an uphill battle against Nigel Farage for influence over the incoming White House team — after President Elect’s mega-fan Elon Musk threw public backing behind Reform.
Farage met with Musk at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate on Monday, while Downing Street met with Trump’s incoming Chief of Staff Suzy Wiles at the President's transition HQ last week.
The pair then flew to Washington DC to meet Mike Walz, the President Elect’s incoming National Security Adviser.
