Thousands without water in UK as schools forced to CLOSE due to ‘technical fault’ – see if your postcode’s affected
THOUSANDS are without water across the UK due to a "technical fault" - as several schools have been forced to close.
The issues are affecting supplies across Southampton, Romsey, Eastleigh and the New Forest, Southern Water has said.
The company announced this morning that a problem had occurred at Testwood Water Supply Works.
A spokesperson said that this had lead to low pressure or a complete loss of water supply in some areas.
They added that resolving the issue was "going to take time".
Three schools have since announced closures - including Noadswood School, Greenwood School and Manor Church of England Infants.

Meanwhile, Southern Water has said that water is being delivered to vulnerable customers.
It has also said that three bottled water stations are being set up for those affected by the shortage.
Stephanie Davidovitz, Head of Water Networks at Southern Water, said: "Our Testwood Water Supply works has run into some issues.
"We are working through plans to look at how we can restore supply in some areas but it is an emerging issue."
In a statement posted to the company's Facebook page, a spokesperson added: "We’re sorry that customers in parts of Southampton, Eastleigh, Romsey and the New Forest are without water.
