EU demands recently uncovered in documents include fresh raids on British fishing waters, free movement for under-30s and a return to European Court of Justice (ECJ) oversight in exchange for softer goods checks and a security pact.

Sir David told The Sun: “We should start by saying simply no to the attempt by the European Union to present the negotiating position.

“They always do this, particularly with countries they think are weaker.”

He also blasted the EU’s fishing demands and for ECJ oversight. He said: “We left to take control of our own affairs, and anything that does not allow Parliament the last word is unacceptable.”

Mr Barclay said: “We have delivered Brexit benefits by increasing the tonnage British fishermen can catch and by having better marine protections.

“It would be a great betrayal if Keir Starmer does not continue to increase the tonnage.”

Sir David added: “Parliament must check every line of any deal and throw out what we don’t want.”
