THIS is the dramatic moment armed police gunned down dangerous dogs before arresting their owner after "five pitbulls" rampaged through streets of Bolton this afternoon.
Shocking footage shows cops blasting the crazed dogs at close range after they injured a 60-year-old woman and a man.
Another dog - believed to be part of the same group - was still on the loose and being hunted by cops.
Terrified witnesses claimed a man thought to the owner was led away in handcuffs sobbing before he was bundled into a police car.
The 38-year-old was arrested on suspicion of allowing a dog to be dangerously out of control in a public place and affray.
He remains in police custody and is due to be quizzed by officers later today.
One onlooker tweeted: “Dog owner arrested in Bolton after his dog is shot on the street.”
Another added: “5 dangerous dogs being shot in #bolton after man let's them loose.”
Police have confirmed a 60-year-old woman was injured when she was bitten on the hand and a man was bitten on the leg.
It is understood cops are still hunting one injured dog as two other dogs were seized.
@Y_Atcha93 55m tweeted: "Illegal dogs are on the loose on Deane road, all closed off- dogs are getting shot down."
Marya Mahmood told the : "We saw two dogs that were not on leads and about four or five dogs on a lead being held by a man.
“The ones off the leads were chasing the police officers and they had to shoot them otherwise they were going to attack them.
“Were heard them shoot two dogs. They were quite big dogs that looked like pit bulls.
“The man who was arrested was crying because the dogs had died.”
A police spokesman confirmed: "A man has been arrested after a group of dogs were dangerously out of control in Bolton."
"At around 10.20am on Sunday 2 April 2017, police were called to reports that six Pitbull type dogs were dangerously out of control on Queens Park, Chorley New Road.
"Emergency services attended and discovered a 60-year-old woman suffered a bite to the hand, a man was bitten on the leg and a dog suffered serious injuries.
"Armed response officers were deployed to the scene and two dogs were humanely destroyed and two dogs have been seized.
Officers are currently searching the area for another dog who is believed to be part of the group."
Four breeds of dog are banned from being owned, bred or sold in the UK under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991.
They are the pit bull terrier, the Japanese Tosa, the Dogo Argentino and the Fila Brasileiro.
