Shock video shows mountains of undelivered parcels amid Christmas chaos at Scots Yodel depot
A YODEL parcel depot has become Yod-hell amid a mountainous backlog of Christmas chaos, stretched workers say.
They claim hundreds of undelivered boxes, many containing fragile gifts, are being stacked “Jenga-style” at one of the firm’s Scots hubs.
Our pictures reveal masses of packages — including ones with “handle with care” and “this way up” markings — scattered around one of the Scots warehouses.
And a whistleblower says huge quantities of Hello Fresh and Gusto food boxes have been dumped in skips.
The Yodel insider told The Scottish Sun: “They are only fresh for 24 hours, otherwise they get chucked.
“Delivery drivers are completely overwhelmed. Cages and cages get thrown.
“There are meant to be 11 workers on shift but so many people have left that we are always understaffed.
“I’ve considered taking the boxes to a homeless shelter but I’m not allowed.”
Another source added: “It’s hard because this is people’s Christmas stuff.
“I have kids myself and things have been shattered in the post before — it’s heartbreaking when that happens.”
Shoppers hit out at Yodel after the company said in an online statement parcels were taking “slightly longer than usual”.
One posted on X: “It’s 2024, and Yodel has just discovered Christmas is a thing.”
Another said: “They have had my parcel for two weeks now and all they can say is they’re waiting for a driver. AVOID!!”
A Yodel spokesperson said: “Due to record-breaking volumes, we worked with a small number of clients to adapt schedules and maintain smooth operations.
“We are grateful for their approach and ongoing support.
"As a result, we are now in a stronger position as we head into the final two weeks before Christmas.
“We thank our colleagues for their hard work and massive efforts.”
