THIS is the shocking moment two Rio cops appear to execute a pair of injured suspects in broad daylight.
Heavily armed officers can be seen sidling up to the wounded men before unloading two piercing shots — right beside a school playground.
A 13-year-old girl was also killed in the preceding shootout between military police and the gunmen in a Rio slum.
Victim Maria Eduarda Alves da Conceição's uncle told she had been in taking part in a gym class at the nearby school when she was hit with a wayward fired from a police weapon.
The gruesome video, filmed in the former Olympic city's Pedreira district, has sparked nationwide outrage.
Protests on Thursday led to the closure of the Avenida Brazil, the main access road to the city.
Rio's military police general commander said the video revealed "blatant illegal actions".
Two police officers have been arrested and charged with murder.
But police spokesman Ivan Blaz said he had sympathy for the officers.
"I understand these officers' desensitisation and brutalisation. They're not dealing with small-time thieves. They're up against opponents with rifles".
Rio police killed 920 people in 2016, according to Human Rights Watch, with fatalities rising 78 per cent in the first two months of 2017.
