A MUM told 999 "I don't want to die" days before she was driven to take her own life by her abusive fiance, a court has heard.

Kiena Dawes, 23, had also written a tragic note saying "I was murdered" before she was found dead on train tracks in Lancashire.

She also wrote that her partner had "killed me" before taking her own life on July 22, 2022.

Her fiance Ryan Wellings is standing trial at Preston Crown Court accused of subjecting her to repeated violence and abuse during their two-and-a-half year relationship.

Kiena's mum Angela has told of how her daughter was scared to leave her relationship.

It came after Wellings said he would throw acid in her face and threatened to use a drill to take her teeth out, jurors heard.

A chilling 999 call was played to the jury on Monday.

Reporting a road traffic collision, she told the operator: "I don't want to die."

She also said she had been thinking about her mental health and "didn't see the car in front".

Kiena added: "I don't want to die. My head's just gone. I need some help. I'm trying really hard not to feel like this."

The court has heard she had Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder, which is put her at an increased risk of taking her own life.

Jurors heard Wellings exploited her condition, which played a part in the “bright and popular” hairdresser's decision to end her own life.

Dr Nicholas Kennedy also told the court that a fear of abandonment also made it more difficult for her to walk away from a relationship.

The court has heard Kiena took her own life 11 days after Wellings allegedly attacked her in front of their nine-month-old baby.

Kiena had dialled 999 on July 11, 2022, to report an assault.

When officers arrived at the home, they discovered the mum's head was bleeding and the bathroom towel rail had been damaged.

The court was told Wellings denied assaulting her and claimed he had to restrain her because she had attacked him.

Eleven days later, Kiena drove to a friend's home and let herself in while the pal was in the shower.

She then left her nine-month-daughter inside along with the heartbreaking note, jurors heard.

The note read: "The end. I fought hard, I fought long. I went through pain no one could imagine.

"I was murdered. Ryan Wellings killed me. He ruined every bit of strength I had left. I didn't deserve it.

"I hope my life saves another by police services acting faster. Don't let bullies live free."

Kiena then apologised to her daughter for having to "let you go" and told how the world had "turned their back on me".

She said she hoped the baby would be "kept away from the monster who is called her dad".

Kiena's mum Angela told the court she had urged her daughter to "run a mile" from Wellings.

She said Kiena had been "swept off her feet" after Wellings had a tattoo penned on his neck days after they met in January 2020.

Within three months, he proposed and she agreed to marry him.

But the mum soon became aware her daughter had been attacked, the court heard.

Kiena told her mum that Wellings had thrown her over a glass table that had broken and she was left with bruising.

Angela told the court: "I said to Ryan, ‘You hurt my baby, my daughter’.

"I said to him, ‘Look at her? How can you hurt her?’

"He said, ‘I’m sorry. I’ll get help’.

"I told her to run a mile. I said, ‘That’s not OK’."

But Mrs Dawes told the jury the violence continued.

Wellings denies manslaughter, assault and controlling and coercive behaviour.

The defendant, of Bispham, Lancashire, claims the accusations against him are either untrue or exaggerated and any injuries Kiena suffered before her death were a result of his attempts to restrain her or accidental.

You're Not Alone

EVERY 90 minutes in the UK a life is lost to suicide

It doesn’t discriminate, touching the lives of people in every corner of society – from the homeless and unemployed to builders and doctors, reality stars and footballers.

It’s the biggest killer of people under the age of 35, more deadly than cancer and car crashes.

And men are three times more likely to take their own life than women.

Yet it’s rarely spoken of, a taboo that threatens to continue its deadly rampage unless we all stop and take notice, now.

That is why The Sun launched the You’re Not Alone campaign.

The aim is that by sharing practical advice, raising awareness and breaking down the barriers people face when talking about their mental health, we can all do our bit to help save lives.

Let’s all vow to ask for help when we need it, and listen out for others… You’re Not Alone.
