Brits’ dream travel adventures revealed – including northern lights & whale-watching

Being anxious also stops people from exploring

BRITS' dream travel adventures are seeing the northern lights in Finland, whale watching in Iceland – and hiking the Great Wall of China.

A poll of 2,000 adults found 41 per cent describe themselves as adventure-seekers – with 17 per cent wanting to embark on an exploration of the Galápagos Islands.

While 12 per cent reckon they could reach the colourful coral of Australia’s Great Barrier Reef.

And 15 per cent see themselves hacking through the Amazon rainforest.

However, 53 per cent admit they often find their adventurous side is being held back – with 28 per cent blaming this on work commitments.

The research was commissioned by OnePlus, to mark the launch of , which provides 12 experiences behind each door as well as its latest device, as it gears up to release the OnePlus13.

Celina Shi, from the smartphone company, said: “Being adventurous means something different to all of us.

";So whether that’s whale watching in Iceland or exploring the Galápagos Islands, you need to be prepared to have the right equipment with you."

The study also found 34 per cent of respondents admit to anxiety about the unknown, which stops them being as adventurous as they’d like.

But 46 per cent are simply held back by the perceived expense associated with these globe-spanning journeys.

It also emerged 89 per cent wouldn’t dream of embarking on a potentially dangerous quest without a smartphone in their pocket.

For 65 per cent, this is for emergency contact and safety features, while 63 per cent would rely on navigation and GPS capabilities.

Although 53 per cent want one on hand to capture awe-inspiring photos and videos, according to the  figures.

The typical adult felt ‘most adventurous’ at the age of 27, because that was when they had most desire for new experiences (47 per cent) or were most self-confident (45 per cent).

But when it comes to doing more exploring, 31 per cent would need more leisure time, while 24 per cent want more supportive friends or travel companions.

And 26 per cent have made New Year’s Resolutions in the past to ‘explore more’, but the same percentage admitted they didn’t stick to them.
