A DEFENDANT’S extraordinary facial transformation has been chronicled by his mugshots during his brushes with the law.
When Jacob Pauda, 31, from Texas appeared in court on assault charges he bore little resemblance to his former self, with his hair slicked back and his face covered in tattoos.
Assistant District Attorney Laura Beth Fossett said: “Even though the victim no longer wishes to prosecute, it is our job to evaluate each case individually and see if we need to kind of step in for this victim.”
She added: “Here, he's shown a pattern of assaults and this victim has shown a pattern of going back to him and taking this abuse.
“And so, with the children and with the facts of this particular case, where he had shown complete disregard for the life of his unborn child, we decided that this was too far and we needed to go forward with the charges.”
