Top cop Sergeant David Sanderson convicted of headbutting a woman while wearing a motorbike helmet
Shamed Hampshire Police sergeant is found guilty after petrol forecourt row lead to assault
A COP has been convicted of headbutting a woman while wearing a motorbike helmet after a row at a petrol station.
Sgt David Sanderson, 45, flipped after claiming Donja Bryant’s partner Nadia Aziz was using her mobile while driving.
The off-duty officer — awarded honours for bravery — followed them out of the Asda forecourt in Chandlers Ford, Hants.
Ambulance call centre worker Donja said, "He was intimidating. He was stood there, shouting and glaring at the window even though we had pulled it up."
She asked Sanderson to leave, he replied: "What are you going to do about it?"
He then headbutted Donja leaving her with a bump on the head.
She added, "I could almost see it in his eyes that he knew he shouldn't have done that. He knew that was probably the wrong move."
Sanderson said it was accidental, but was found guilty of assault by JPs in Worthing. The disgraced sergeant will be sentenced next month.
