A witness near the scene told BirminghamLive: "The guy was walking up the road with his girlfriend and we heard a guy shouting.

"One of the men said: 'I thought it was over. I thought this had been dealt with?'"

The Solihull resident described the attack as "a wrestling slam" and said that the woman was screaming and shouting.

Officers raced to the scene where they found the man unconscious and bleeding heavily from his head.

This prompted the cops to rush the man to the hospital rather than wait for the ambulance to arrive.

A police spokesperson told The Sun: "We were called to Hytall Road, Solihull shortly after 6pm on 7 November after a man was found with serious injuries.

"Officers attended and found the man, who was taken to hospital.
