Tragedy as man in his 40s struck by 2 cars and killed when he walked along A21 after smashing pickup truck into barrier

Cops released information about a car and a van

A DRIVER who crashed his truck into a barrier was killed minutes later when he got out of the vehicle and was hit by two cars.

The motorist, aged in his 40s, had been driving a white Isuzu pickup and trailer on the A21 in Pembrey, Kent, on Saturday.

The victim collided with the central reservation on the coastbound carriageway shortly after 6pm.

He then got out and was on foot when he was struck by a grey Vauxhall Vivaro van and a grey Skoda Kodiaq.

Police have not yet released details of the man but confirmed that his relatives had been told.

Officers appealed for any witnesses to the collisions to contact them urgently.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: "The man is reported have been struck by a car and a van, after he had exited his own vehicle following a collision.

"Police were called to the coastbound carriageway of the A21, shortly after 6pm on Saturday.

"The victim, aged in his 40s, had been driving a white Isuzu pickup truck and trailer, and prior to the incident had collided with the central reservation a short distance away.

"It is reported that after he got out of the Isuzu and was on foot he was struck by a grey Vauxhall Vivaro and a grey Skoda Kodiaq.

"Medical crews attended, alongside officers, and the man died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

"Kent Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) is carrying out inquiries and officers are appealing to anyone who saw what happened, or has relevant dash-cam footage, to come forward.

"Anyone with information should call the SCIU appeal line on 01622 798538."
