The Tesla CEO has spent “nearly every day” at Mar-a-Largo since November 5 and has weighed in on crucial decisions already made by Trump.

Trump's latest jibe came at a donor event at his Palm Beach estate, but is not the first time he has raised Musk’s lingering presence.

He also told a meeting with House Republicans on Wednesday: “Elon won’t go home. I can’t get rid of him!”

Trump’s words were taken as a joke and he usually dotes over the “super genius”.

He was reportedly back in Florida on Friday perusing the gift shop and teeing-off with Trump.

But not all Republicans are so sweet on Trump’s new best buddy. Two MAGA veterans complained that Musk had overstayed his welcome and was drawing too much power.

The pair told NBC: "He’s behaving as if he’s a co-President and making sure everyone knows it.

The surprise guest reportedly chimed in saying he would continue to supply Starlink satellites to Ukraine.

The anonymous sources point to this as an early sign of Musk’s creeping influence.

They complained that he “wants to be seen as having a say in everything.”

The SpaceX founder also followed Trump to Washington for his meeting with outgoing president Joe Biden.

The men have gotten so cosy that Trump’s granddaughter Kai has even started calling Musk “uncle Elon” in social media posts.

Musk has been air dropped into an unofficial White House role, where he will front Trump’s Department for Government Efficiency - nicknamed DOGE.

Musk's criteria for people he will hire is: “high-IQ small-government revolutionaries willing to work 80+ hours per week”.

The entrepreneur, worth over $300billion, joked workers would go unpaid.

Following the impromptu job advert, Musk posted: “Indeed, this will be tedious work, make lots of enemies & compensation is zero,” and “What a great deal!” with a laughing emoji.

Trump’s man-of-the-moment will be joined by Vivek Ramaswamy as co-leader of DOGE.

The incoming president expects big things from the “wonderful Americans”.

He promised they will take an axe to bureaucracy and “slash” regulations as part of the “Save America” mission.
