Dramatic moment London attack terrorist Khalid Masood is shot dead as PC Keith Palmer lies fatally wounded
THIS is the moment British-born terrorist Khalid Masood lies dead on the ground, his crumpled body surrounded by police as hero cop Keith Palmer collapses just yards away.
The 52-year-old jihadi can be seen fatally injured in the photo, with the former English teacher having just smashed into terrified crowds on Westminster Bridge before attacking PC Keith Palmer.
The devastating photograph, taken just after the terrorist, now named as Adrian Russell Ajao, was stopped in his tracks, comes after the number of those killed in the attack last night rose to four when a 75-year-old man's life support was turned off.
Others remain in a critical condition as London banded together in a show of support in an emotional candelit vigil at Trafalgar Square last night.
Police have searched homes around Birmingham and London in the aftermath of the attack, while maintaining that Masood, who had previously been investigated by MI5 and was known by a number of aliases, had acted alone.
Two more "significant" arrests have been made in connection to the attack, with police swooping on the West Midlands and north west.
New Scotland Yard Deputy Acting Commissioner Mark Rowley said that officers were involved in a "large, fast-paced" investigation.
He said: "Our investigation focuses on understanding his motivation, preparation and his associates.
"Whilst there is no evidence of further threats you will understand our determination to find out if he either: acted totally alone inspired by terrorist propaganda or, if others have encouraged, supported or directed him."

He said that police had now contacted about 3,500 witnesses, including 1,000 from Westminster Bridge, while 2,700 items have been seized during raids.
Fears have grown that the lone wolf was radicalised while working in Saudi Arabia.
Three other officers were injured - PC Kris Aves, who sustained life changing injuries, PC Roger Smith and PC Bradley Bryant.
There have now been calls for hero cop Keith Palmer to be awarded a posthumous medal to honour his bravery.
The last photograph to emerge of the brave serviceman has since emerged, with a tourist having taken a happy snap with him just 45 minutes before chaos broke out.
MP Tobias Ellwood was just one of those at the scene, with the former British Army officer giving mouth to mouth in a desperate attempt to save the life of the officer.
Other victims include mum Aysha Frade, who is believed to have been picking up her children from school and American tourist Kurt Cochran who died while on a trip around Europe for his 25th wedding anniversary.
Others injured on the bridge include people from Ireland, America, South Korea and France.
Theresa May yesterday admitted there was no prior intelligence of the deadly attack at Parliament, which has now been claimed by ISIS.
The PM revealed in Parliament that MI5 intelligence chiefs had previously investigated 52-year-old Khalid Masood but dismissed him as a “peripheral figure”.
