As it stands, Trump has 266 out of the goal of 270 Electoral College votes, while Kamala Harris has just 219.

Following a star-studded watch party at luxury resident Mar-a-Lago, Trump spoke to fans calling his campaign "the greatest political movement of all time" as he vowed to "help the country heal."

While he thanked the members of his family and fellow Republicans, Trump also paid tribute to his ally Elon Musk after being prompted to do so by supporters.

The Space X founder has been a key fixture of Trump's campaign and was pictured with his four-year-old son at the Mar-a-Lago election party.

With the re-election of Trump, Musk is set to become the most powerful man on the planet, it has been claimed.

The richest man in the world has emerged as a unique influence on the election campaign - and has become the biggest cheerleader of Trump.

The tech mogul has been dubbed Trump's "shadow vice president", and went all in to support and campaign for the former president.

'We've entered a new world' after Trump's win and Musk will spearhead change

Professor Anthony Glees, an expert on security and intelligence and European affairs has spoken exclusively to The Sun about the results of the US Election.

"We've entered a new world," Glees said as Trump won the swing state of Pennsylvania.

"Many things are now going to change, fundamentally," he added claiming that much of this change will be spearheaded by Space X founder Elon Musk.

"In America, there'll be a revolution in how it deals with itself - led, as I've predicted, by Elon Musk.

"He'll play a major role inside but also in how it deals with us in Europe."

Not only has he become a mega-donor for the Republican nominee, pumping millions of dollars into the GOP campaign, but also a social media strategist and a PR expert who has been working to promote Trump's MAGA agenda.

Dr Alan Mendoza, political expert and executive director of leading Brit think tank Henry Jackson Society, said Musk is seeking to become powerful in both business and politics.

He told The Sun: "There's clearly a power factor involved here.

"If you've got control of significant communications and means of communications and you've then got a friendly president who's willing to give you a push on whatever you are doing, that gives you tremendous power in the business as well as the political world."

Meanwhile, as a second Trump presidency is all but guaranteed, Harris' camp is downcast and quiet.

Fox News reported that Harris' press spokesperson has told staff not to talk to the media.

A CNN reporter at the Harris campaign HQ in Washington DC said that they were getting "silence" from the Harris team.

"We still have votes to count," her campaign co-chair Cedric Richmond said.

"We still have states that have not been called yet. We will continue overnight to fight to make sure that every vote is counted, that every voice has spoken."
