GEORDIES are the happiest people in the country, according to new figures.

With 72 per cent admitting to smiling regularly and feeling a "warm glow" Geordies out-shone the rest of us.

The poll, by , discovered the most miserable Brits live in Birmingham, with just 40 per cent of Brummies saying they felt happy.
Steve Smith, 49, of Birmingham, said he was "sick" of Brummies being seen as miserable and compared it to hit TV show about British brickies working in Germany, Auf Wiedersehen, Pet.
The show stars Jimmy Nail as the cheerful brickie Oz and Timothy Spall as 'boring and miserable Barry' from the West Midlands.
