PINK Floyd drummer Nick Mason dramatically crashed his £3million supercar racer on track - but luckily walked away unharmed.

The rock star had a near-miss when his red and yellow sports car suddenly skidded during a demonstration lap.

It slid over the grass and clouted the bank at the notorious St Mary's corner on the Goodwood circuit in Sussex.

He was able to clamber unscathed from the low-speed accident which happened soon after former track sports cars including Porsches and a Ferrari and a Lotus set off for some quick demonstration laps.

But the car suffered front damage and the demonstration was red-flagged and halted while marshals hurried to pick up the debris and arrange for the McLaren to be towed away.

Mason, 73, is an experienced competitor and has driven sports car for many years - including taking part in the classic Le Mans 24 hour race.

He also owns one of the world's best private collections of exotic sports and racing cars including a Ferrari 250GTO which is said to be worth £25million.

He hires out many of his cars to film-makers.

It comes as Grand Tour presenter Richard Hammond was badly hurt in motorbike crash in remote Mozambique after almost dying in Top Gear collision 11 years ago.
