Train DERAILS in ‘rockfall’ killing at least 1 as horror pics show flipped carriages after passengers ‘kick doors open’

Passengers shared how they desperately saved other stuck riders

A HORROR train crash killed one person and injured four more as terrified passengers kicked down the carriage doors to escape.

Dramatic pictures show the derailed train flipped on its side in a forested area in northern Norway this afternoon.

Police believe a boulder barrelled into the tracks and overturned the locomotive while 55 passengers were onboard.

Terrified riders told how they kicked down doors to escape and helped others who were injured in the crash escape.

Live TV showed several carriages of the train sliding down a hill before it became caught in the trees and hung onto a road around 2:15 pm.

The train operator said 90 tickets were sold for the ride but 55 people were on board at the time.

The train was heading towards the city of Bodoe from Trondheim in central Norway.

Shaken passengers revealed their on board account of the horrifying incident.

Ingvart Strand Mølster revealed how he was tossed within his carriage during the ordeal, according to the local news site .

Mølster said: "I never understood why we braked like that, then I was suddenly thrown into a wall.

"I ended up in the middle of the cart where the bins are.

"People were lying on top of each other there."

The rider explained how passengers remained stuck even after the derailed train had stopped.

Mølster added: "The carriage rocked and hung in the air. I wasn't sure if we were in danger of overturning.

"People tried to get out, but we were trapped by trees and earth masses."

Another passenger named Transeth recalled riders used what they could find to desperately help the people who were stuck inside.

Transeth said: "I got a hammer and a saw to break windows, and we found a number of carpets so that people could get out through the windows.

"I helped to get out two children, five or six years old, and a couple of ladies."

Several passengers were taken away from the derailed train on buses around an hour after the incident.
