Man, 56, charged with murder after victim, in his 40s, is shot dead in rush hour attack on street
COPS have charged a man with murder after a victim was shot dead in a broad daylight rush hour attack.
The shooting took place in Tottenham, North London, in broad daylight at 9am on Tuesday as people were going to work.
Police officers and paramedics rushed to Waltheof Gardens near Smithson Road and found a man with a gunshot injury, the Met has said.
However, the man, in his 40s, was pronounced dead shortly after.
Mahmut Sahindal, 56, has now been charged with murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
He is due to appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

It comes after Sahindal, of no fixed abode, was arrested on Tuesday.
Cops believe the shooting was an isolated attack and do not believe the wider public is at risk.
Forensic officers were seen collecting evidence at the scene on Tuesday.
A statement from the Metropolitan Police said: "Met detectives have charged a man with murder following the death of a man that was shot in Waltheof Gardens on Tuesday.

"Officers attended alongside the London Ambulance Service and found a man with a gunshot injury. Despite the best efforts of emergency services, he died at the scene.
"The victim’s family have been informed of this update and will continue to be supported by specialist officers.
"Enquiries into the circumstances remain ongoing."
Detective Chief Inspector Linda Bradley, who is leading the investigation, earlier said: “We are yet to formally identify the victim of this tragic incident.
"We will continue to carry out efforts to ensure his family are informed and supported by specialist officers.
"A post-mortem examination will also be scheduled in due course.
“We are appealing for anyone who was present in the area who may have seen or heard anything relating to this incident to please get in touch.

'TRAGIC LOSS OF LIFE'
Detective Chief Superintendent Caroline Haines, in charge of policing for North Area which covers Haringey, earlier said: “I am devastated by the tragic loss of life, and I recognise the concern that this incident will cause for local residents.
“I want to reassure you that we have a team of specialist officers already working diligently to establish the circumstances of this shooting.
“You may notice an increased police presence in the area as officers carry out vital enquiries. We would encourage you to speak to them with any concerns.
"If you have any information that you think may assist with our investigation, then please do not hesitate to get in touch. We want to hear from you, even if you feel like your information may be insignificant.”
A crime scene remains in place at the location while enquiries are carried out.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 9.11am today (October 15) to reports of a shooting in Waltheof Gardens, Tottenham. We sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car and an incident response officer.
"We also dispatched a trauma team in a car from London’s Air Ambulance. Our first paramedics arrived on scene in approximately five minutes.
“Sadly, despite the best efforts of our crews, a person was pronounced dead at the scene.”
