The chaotic scenes erupted on Stockport Road, Manchester, forcing a major road closure as footage captured the aftermath of a violent altercation.

Emergency services were swiftly dispatched to the scene shortly before 1pm on Saturday after reports of a serious confrontation between two men.

Greater Manchester Police cordoned off the area to ensure public safety while they investigated the bizarre incident.

The unsettling video, recorded by a passer-by walking his dog, shows a group of men standing outside a dark grey vehicle and a small white van, charging towards each other while wielding weapons.

Armed with makeshift tools, two men take swings at opposite vehicles, smashing windows and damaging doors, while others attempt to intervene in the escalating chaos.

The road remained closed overnight, obstructing traffic and pedestrians at the junction of Underwood Road and Ashworth Lane.

Photographers on the scene documented the police presence, with officers working diligently to maintain order, as emergency tape was stretched across the road and a man in hi-vis stood guard.

Social media has been flooded with footage of the terrifying confrontation, showcasing the moment when both vehicles came to a halt and the groups of men leapt out, armed and ready for battle.

Three individuals can be seen on the central reservation, visibly agitated and brandishing weapons after the shocking altercation.

Greater Manchester Police have confirmed that two men involved in the reported assault sustained minor injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening.

Both were treated at the scene as officers worked to piece together the events leading up to the violent confrontation.

The description of the suspects has emerged, with one man seen wearing a blue shirt and dark trousers, another clad in a dark hooded jacket and trousers, while a third donned a white shirt and trousers.

The specific weapons used during the incident remain unclear.

In an official statement, Greater Manchester Police confirmed their continued presence in the area for public reassurance and appealed for anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward.

A spokesperson stated: "We are responding to a reported assault of two men on Stockport Road at 12.50pm today.

";The two men suffered minor injuries which are not thought to be life-changing or threatening at this time."

Authorities have established road closures at the junctions of Hyde Road, Ashworth Lane, and Underwood Road as they continue their investigation.
