She then hid from police in a bush before sheepishly emerging to tell officers: "I'm sorry".

Loftus was found to be almost three times the drink-drive limit following the April 7 crash.

Officers found she had previously been convicted of drink-driving in April 2022 and found guilty of driving while under the influence of cannabis the following month.

She has now been banned from the roads for 40 months after admitting drink-driving.

Crewe Magistrates' Court was told she is seeking help from the Be Well Stay Well charity, where she worked as marketing director and chief fundraiser.

Loftus had been drinking on a night out but decided to drive the two miles home following a row.

Police arrived at the scene to find the Ford Ka crashed sideways into a tree on the side of the road.

Tara Thomas, prosecuting, said: "The officer approached the bush, approximately 20m away from the crash, and shouted ‘Police. Come out.’

“A female, who is the defendant before the court, emerged and said, ‘I am sorry'."

The court was told Loftus had 215 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood, with the legal limit being 80mg.

In mitigation, barrister Patrick Kelly said: "She works with charity Be Well Stay Well, supporting people with addictive personalities or who have fallen into addiction.

"She has now turned to them herself and has received assistance from them.''

As well as a driving ban, Loftus was handed to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work.
