Mum’s warning after tot suffers horror burns getting hand trapped in Dyson vacuum cleaner
Jade Bishop, 23, said she blamed herself after son Theo was hospitalised
A TODDLER suffered severe burns on his hand after getting his thumb trapped inside a Dyson hoover.
Theo White, 16 months, was treated for fourth degree burns after the dangerous moment at home with mum Jade Bishop.
The 23-year-old from Chard, Somerset, says the toddler is now facing the possibility of a skin graft after getting stuck in the Dyson Upright Vacuum.
Jade said: "I took my eyes off Theo for a few seconds and I still can't believe that in such a short amount of time he was hurt so badly.
"I was doing my everyday routine, clearing up, vacuuming and Theo was following me with around with his toy vacuum, it was just a normal day.
"I turned the vacuum off and went to pull the plug out of the wall when all of a sudden I heard Theo scream.
"He had managed to turn the vacuum back on and his thumb was trapped inside the part where the bristles spin around.

"I quickly pulled the plug out of the wall and ran to him, I instantly thought his bone was sticking out as all I could see was white, but thankfully it wasn't.
"At the doctors I assumed they were going to send us straight home after they had bandaged him up but they wanted us to see a specialist in Bristol the following day.
"The consultant told us Theo had fourth degree burns and they were concerned about his tendons being exposed as it could result in restricted movement and severe scarring."
Jade and fiancé, Nigel White, 25, have now been advised that if their son's wound does not heal within two weeks the chances are he will have to have a skin graft.
Jade is now urging parents, grandparents and carers to be vigilant around the home whilst young children are about.
Jade added: "I felt awful after it happened and of course blamed myself, but it can happen to anyone.
"All it takes is for someone to turn their back for a split second and that could have huge consequences.
This is a heart-wrenching accident.

"I just want to make people think twice about what they are doing when small children are around, there are so many hidden dangers and I would hate for this to happen to anyone else."
A Dyson spokesman: “This is a heart-wrenching accident.
"Vacuum cleaners can be very tempting to little fingers but they are very powerful machines not to be toyed with.
"We hear Theo is doing better and hope he has a full recovery.”
