Girl, 8, and woman, 40, found dead in Salford are mum & daughter as ‘cops probe murder-suicide’
AN EIGHT-year-old girl and woman found dead inside a house are a mum and daughter - as cops probe a murder-suicide.
The schoolgirl and her mum, 40, were found dead at a property in Salford, Manchester, shortly after 1.30am on Monday.
The two have been named locally as Martina and daughter Eleni.
Floral tributes and a teddy bear have been laid inside a cordon erected around the house as cops continue to investigate.
Police are understood to be treating the two deaths as a murder-suicide, reports.
It comes after Greater Manchester Police confirmed officers are not "actively looking" for anyone else in relation to the investigation.

A neighbour in South Radford Street today said: "I didn’t see that much of her, I was at work all day."
The neighbour continued: "A police van arrived outside the house with lights flashing. I came downstairs to have a look then a policewoman knocked on the door and asked if I had seen my neighbour.
“Then the fire brigade came and got in at the back of the house, breaking the glass.
“After that the police came and asked us to go back inside."

Another neighbour Milana Kleina, 37, said: "She was very tidy and looked after the house and I’d see her cleaning it all the time.
“I used to see the mum in the morning seeing the daughter off to school.
“A bus used to come and collect her.”
Milana added: “I just can’t understand what’s happened.
“I have a son, aged 9, myself. “It’s affected us all because this is usually such a quiet street - it’s tragic really.”
Other neighbours said the mum was a “lovely person” and “very friendly”.
The pair, who are yet to be formally identified, are understood to have lived alone together at the property.
Detective Superintendent Simon Moyles, of Greater Manchester Police, said: “A woman and young girl were both tragically found dead and we are working hard as a team to establish what happened here this morning.
“Whilst we are not actively looking for anyone else in relation to this investigation, I understand the news of their deaths and the large police and emergency services presence at the address will most likely cause some concern to residents and those further afield in Greater Manchester.
“I want to reassure them that we believe this to be an isolated incident with no wider threat in the community.
“A cordon has been put in place and there is a scene is contained on South Radford Street. We continue to thank the public for their patience as we respond in the area.
“We have placed a number of highly visible officers to patrol in and around the area should any residents wish to come and talk to us or pass on any information they may have about this tragic incident."
A Salford City Council spokesperson said: “We are aware of the terribly sad news this morning and our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of those who have tragically lost their lives.

“We’re working closely with GMP and assisting them with their ongoing investigation and our teams will be supporting both local residents and council staff who have no doubt been greatly affected by the events today.”
